Israel Centeno
(Caracas, 1958) is a Venezuelan novelist, short story writer, editor, and creative writing professor. His work has been published in Venezuela, Spain, and the United States, exploring urban experience, memory, and contemporary social tensions.
He is the author of novels and short story collections such as Calletania, El complot, Iniciaciones, Retrato de Abel con isla volcánica al fondo, Bajo la luna, and La conspiración, among other titles that have consolidated his presence in contemporary Venezuelan narrative.
In 1994, he founded the publishing house Memorias de Altagracia, and since 2005 he has devoted himself to training writers. He was Writer-in-Residence at City of Asylum (Pittsburgh), an institution that protects persecuted writers.
